Stop Trying to Bulldoze Your Writer’s Block — Why Writer’s Block Isn’t What You Think It Is

If you know me, and have read some of my Medium meta posts, you know I love to pour over and nerd about numbers and statistics.
And since all of us want to make money on this platform — Medium, the promised land allowing aspiring authors from all proficiency levels to earn a buck for their work — we’re getting down to brass tacks, and analyzing how much this promised land can give us.
How much does Medium pay per 1000 views? You can be expected to earn anywhere between $10 to $98 per 1k views. But the average number heavily depends on a whole bunch of other factors beyond views.
However, it’s certainly more than the Google AdSense program gives over on YouTube, that’s for sure.
Over there, statistics say that you can get between an average of $18 per 1000 views. Others say between 1 to $5. That’s depending on the type of content you produce, and thus on which advertisers want to bid on you. The trick is that certain subjects attract a bigger audience than others (such as finance and productivity), and so advertisers can and will bid higher for their ad to be displayed on your content.
